Alejandro Garnacho has turned down a move to Bayern Munich, and it could be a decision he comes to regret. Throughout the transfer window, it’s become clear that Alejandro Garnacho is set on joining Chelsea.
Maybe it’s the appeal of a long-term deal stretching over 10 years, or perhaps he just wants to prove Manchester United made a mistake letting him go. Either way, there are questions around whether this is the right move for his career.

In any case, what we do know is that Garnacho has rejected all other offers so far, including fresh interest from German champions Bayern Munich, according to Fabrizio Romano.
When you’re looking at top clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich, there isn’t really a bad option. But turning down the chance to play for one of Europe’s most stable sides in favour of joining a club dealing with ownership chaos might not be the best call.
Bayern offer regular Champions League football and have room for someone like Garnacho in their squad. At Chelsea, though, there’s no guarantee he’d slot straight into the starting lineup given their current options.
This feels less about footballing reasons and more about personal motivations. If Garnacho had chosen Bayern over Chelsea under different circumstances – say if they were back under Roman Abramovich – it would be easier to understand.
Chelsea don’t seem worried about competition from Bayern for now. In fact, they’re more likely concerned about growing interest from Saudi Arabia rather than any European clubs.
Bayern Munich don’t usually come back for a player they’ve already passed on, and Garnacho may end up realising that too late.
His falling out with Ruben Amorim at the end of last season set the stage for his potential exit from Manchester United. Rather than working his way back into favour, he seems determined to leave, a choice that could define his career in the wrong way.
A move to Bayern might have changed everything. Success isn’t hard to come by there, and it would have given him a clear path to proving United wrong if that’s what he wanted.
Whether he can find similar success at Chelsea is another matter entirely. It’s not a club where stability lasts long for players.
Nicolas Jackson signed a deal running until 2033 just last summer, and now he’s already on the market. That sort of turnaround isn’t unusual there.
Even if Garnacho does get his moment against United or picks up some silverware, it’s easy to see him being moved on within a year.
This decision to snub Bayern looks like another misstep from Garnacho, and there’s no guarantee the Chelsea move will even materialise.
The two clubs are still far apart in their valuations, and Manchester United have no reason to drop their asking price just because Garnacho wants out.
When you look at what Bayern have in place, a club with resources and a track record of attracting top talent, this feels like a missed opportunity for Garnacho.
Since moving to Germany, Kane has netted 86 goals in 97 matches and added 23 assists. Those numbers speak for themselves.
If Garnacho had linked up with Kane, he could have thrived. Providing service to a forward of that calibre would naturally boost any winger’s assist tally.
This was an ideal chance for Garnacho to make an impact during a World Cup year. But much like he sometimes does on the pitch, the winger seems to be missing the broader view.
Instead, there’s now talk that he might miss out on Argentina’s squad entirely, having already been left out of their upcoming qualifiers.
With the Chelsea move still nowhere near completion, there’s even the possibility that Garnacho ends up back in Manchester United’s under-21 setup next season.
Rejecting Bayern carries real risks. It’s another questionable call from a player who has made more than a few lately.
