Alex Scott remains a player admired by Manchester United.

This is despite the Red Devils prioritising other midfield targets ahead of the new season.

Recent reports suggested Scott had emerged as an alternative for United after developments surrounding Mateus Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur while they have reportedly reached an agreement with West Ham United.

Alex Scott has been on United’s radar for some time, with the Bournemouth midfielder viewed as one of England’s brightest young talents.

Earlier this month, reports also suggested Bournemouth had slapped an £80 million price tag on the 22-year-old amid growing Premier League interest.

Now, a fresh update has emerged regarding his future.

Alex Scott set to enter contract negotiations

According to The Sun, Alex Scott is set to enter contract negotiations amid continued interest from Manchester United.

The report states that Scott is approaching the final two years of his current deal, prompting discussions over fresh terms on the south coast.

The Cherries are keen to secure the midfielder’s long-term future and are reportedly prepared to include a release clause similar to the arrangement previously agreed with Antoine Semenyo.

Bournemouth are also said to have increased their valuation of Scott following Elliot Anderson’s impending £116 million move to Manchester City.

Despite cashing in on several star names in recent years, Bournemouth are reluctant to sanction Scott’s departure after qualifying for European football for the first time in the club’s history.

Scott joined the club from Bristol City in 2023.

He has continued to enhance his reputation with a series of impressive performances in midfield.

Although he missed out on Thomas Tuchel’s final England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the midfielder was included in a select training group during England’s preparations in Florida earlier this month.

The Sun add that United are not actively pursuing Scott at present, but they continue to keep tabs on his situation as they assess midfield options for the future.
