Julian de Guzman has overseen a significant overhaul of Red Bull New York’s roster with the intention of returning the club to the 2026 MLS Cup playoffs.
Early into his role as Red Bull New York’s head of sport, de Guzman has shipped out several familiar faces while shifting the squad toward higher IQ play, more skill on the ball and a greater emphasis on wing play.
Lewis Morgan, Kyle Duncan, Peter Stroud, Curtis Ofori and Carlos Coronel are among those who’ve already departed Sports Illustrated Stadium.
According to a report from The Athletic, long-serving center-back Sean Nealis will soon be traded to rivals D.C. United in exchange for $350,000 in General Allocation Money.

The dial is clearly turned toward youth under new head coach Michael Bradley, who recently captured the club’s first-ever MLS Next Pro championship in his previous role as head coach of the Red Bulls II reserve team. Among the incomings are a pair of promising 22-year-olds in winger Cade Cowell and defender Justin Che.
That said, New York will still need to keep hold of veteran leaders who can provide experience on the pitch and serve as positive examples for youngsters who are looking to become Red Bull mainstays.
One veteran who will remain in Harrison is veteran center-back Tim Parker. On Friday, Red Bull New York re-signed Parker to a one-year contract with an option through June 2027.
“We are excited to keep Tim at the club,” Bradley said. “He drives the standards in the locker room, and he shows tremendous leadership. Having him continue with the club is a great boost for our group.”
The 32-year-old defender appeared in 16 matches across all appearances in 2025.
“Tim is a great leader both on and off the field, and we are pleased to have him back in our locker room,” de Guzman said. “He is a great human being, and we are looking forward to having him on the field, helping our club pursue its goals next season.”
Parker was instrumental in helping New York to the 2018 MLS Supporters' Shield, having made 29 league appearances.
Though youth is a key ingredient in the reshaping of the Red Bulls, it’s important for the roster to possess seasoned, wise pros like Parker.
With 287 career MLS appearances under his belt and still capable of performing at a high level, Parker could play a valuable role in a Red Bull resurgence.
