Ruben Amorim doesn’t have any ideas and continually lets points slip through his fingers.
Manchester United should have seen out a 2-1 halftime lead against Bournemouth. Instead, the Red Devils conceded three second-half goals and drew 4-4 in a wild finish at Old Trafford.
It’s a story that United supporters have seen time and time again from Amorim and his men. It must be tiring for season ticket holders to turn up at Old Trafford and see opportunistic visiting teams leave with points in hand.
Old Trafford used to be an intimidating fortress. There’s no fear these days. Any team can roll up and force United into chaotic, rollercoaster matches.
Ask any United supporter on the street, and they’ll tell you that what’s happening isn’t acceptable. Everyone knows that the midfield is a mess, yet Amorim continues to persist with a central midfield partnership of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.
It's obvious to see that Fernandes is best utilized in a No. 10 role, yet Amorim still hasn't figured that out.
There is no control in the midfield. Whether it’s Bournemouth or any other opponent, runners are given acres to run in behind. There wasn’t any resistance. The Cherries were able to go straight through the middle like a hot knife through butter.
Amorim played into Bournemouth’s hands. There was no need to chase for an extra goal. He should have been shouting from the touchline to stay organized, get compact and forget about taking unnecessary risks.
United regressed in the second half. They kept letting Bournemouth back into the match. If Fernandes hadn’t scored a magnificent free kick to tie the match at 3-3 in the 77th minute, United might have gone on to lose.
There isn’t any real progress under Amorim. You keep seeing his players make the same mistakes and lose concentration in the crucial moments.
If United continue to be this easy to play against, it should be absolutely crystal clear that Amorim is not the right man for the job.
