Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe took charge at Old Trafford, Manchester United have been cutting back costs wherever possible.

INEOS led two waves of redundancies, seeing 450 people lose their jobs. All spending has been heavily scrutinised, even on office supplies.

The club have prioritised selling and offloading the club’s most expensive players, like Antony on over £300,000 per week, in their place signing new stars on reduced wages, like Matheus Cunha’s £200,000 per week.

On the other side of it, the club have also tried to generate revenue after falling out of European football, missing out on the £100 million which the Champions League would have brought.

Pre and post-season tours of Asia and the USA last summer earned around £15 million, while season ticket holders at Old Trafford have been moved to repackage hospitality zones.

However, all this falls a little flat with the news emerging that Manchester United were the sixth-highest spenders on agent fees between February 2025 and February 2026.

The stats have come from Paul Joyce of The Times as he’s posted the figures on X.

They’ve confirmed that Manchester United spent £31.8 million on agent fees, equating to 6.9% of the total £460.3 million spent by Premier League sides.

At the top of the list sits Chelsea with a mammoth £65.1 million, a significant amount more than second on the list, Aston Villa, who paid £38.4 million.

While Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal all sit within the £30 million bracket, the fees drop slightly after United, to Wolves in seventh, spending £26 million.

The bottom of the list sees newly promoted Burnley as the lowest spenders on £7.4 million.

Now, with United trying to offload their highest earners, which usually come with high agent fees, using super agents to land big money moves, United are surely hoping to reduce this figure for next year.
