Tottenham have shown improvement under new manager Ange Postecoglou this season. Spurs sit fifth in the table, with a Champions League spot not out of the question. A busy January transfer window could bolster their squad just in time for the second half of the season. According to Fabrizio Romano, they have identified Radu Dragusin.
The Italian journalist reported that Spurs “are prepared to send first verbal bid” for Genoa centre-back Dragusin. Talks with the Serie A side have been ongoing. Tottenham, who have been searching the market for a defender, now appear ready to make their first official effort to bring one in.
Romano believes the player is eager to join the North London club, stating that Dragusin has “already said yes.” The progress made to sign the 21-year-old Romanian comes after a struggling effort to sign Jean-Clair Todibo. Further in his tweet, the Italian reported that the “Todibo deal could collapse soon.”
Tottenham are working to wrap things up quickly. An acquisition at centre-back – is something that would seemingly help the club address the defensive errors shown this season. The Italian journalist also said: “Tottenham want new CB to join next week.” A report from Italy suggests that Genoa are seeking nothing less than £30 million for Dragusin.
After failing to establish himself as a starter with Juventus, Dragusin endured several loans to other Italian teams before finding his place with Genoa. The youngster was crucial in helping the club gain promotion back to the Serie A last campaign. Squawka claims that the Romanian leads defenders in Italy’s top flight with 53 aerial duels won.
