Ange Postecoglou’s tenure at Tottenham Hotspur has indeed brought about a significant transformation, with the team experiencing a notable upturn in performance and style since his arrival in June last year.
His impact was instant on and off the pitch as he guided Spurs to the top of the table with a 10 game unbeaten run, clinching three Manager of the Month awards in a row.
Despite facing numerous challenges such as injuries and international absences, Postecoglou has effectively maintained Tottenham’s competitiveness in the race for a top-four finish, with the team currently sitting in 5th place, just two points behind Aston Villa.
Analysts and pundits increasingly acknowledge Spurs’ performances this season, noting a distinct shift in the team’s playing style which has been much more attacking and aggressive compared to the passive style under previous managers.
And former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has joined the in on the praise for the Australian, commending him for his knowledge of the game and for his ability to maximise the potential of his players.
Nevertheless, Redknapp did not seem too to be a fan of the term “Ange ball”, suggesting that they are playing attacking football because they have a lot of good attacking options.
In a conversation with talkSPORT, the former Lilywhites’ manager said:
“You play with the hand you are dealt with. He has got a lot of very good attacking options, that’s why they have suddenly been a very attacking team.
“I mean, everybody says this ‘Ange ball’ or whatever. What is it? I don’t even know what it is.
“He has got three forwards, Maddison is back in there, but lots of very flair-type players, which is great because the fullbacks like to get forward. They were both missing at the weekend, unfortunately. They had to make two changes there.
“But he is adaptable. He knows the game. He isn’t a fool. I just think Wolves are a very good side. They have got good attacking options and Gary O’Neil has done a very good job.”
However, Tottenham’s campaign has recently encountered setbacks, managing only six victories in their last 15 games. Their most recent league defeat against Wolves last Saturday resulted in their slip from the top four.
