Milan thought Romelu Lukaku was offside, so Roma should not have been given a corner kick that led to Gianluca Mancini’s opener in the first half.

Roma lead 1-0 at half-time against Milan at San Siro in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.

Mancini scored in the second consecutive match but there had been Milan’s protests prior to the defender’s strike.

Romelu Lukaku had earned the corner kick from which Roma took the lead, but Milan players and coach Pioli protested as they thought the Belgian striker was offside.

Lukaku was only a few meters away from Pioli’s technical area and the Rossoneri coach was so furious that he received a yellow card for dissent before seeing his team concede.

VAR could not intervene, so Roma were given a corner kick, which led to Mancini’s goal.
