Carlo Ancelotti continues to write history with his record fifth Champions League trophy as a coach, the third at Real Madrid after two with Milan, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0.
The Italian already had the record with four, something nobody had ever achieved before, and made himself even more unreachable in the European history books.
Ancelotti won it twice at Milan in 2003 and 2007, then again at Real Madrid in 2014, 2022 and 2024.
He is also the only coach ever to win all five of the major European league titles in Italy, England, Spain, France and Germany.
Even before that, Ancelotti – who turns 65 later this month – won the European Cup twice as a player, both with Milan in 1989 and 1990.
It was a very bright start from Dortmund, who were extremely dangerous with the pace of Karim Adeyemi, dribbling around Thibaut Courtois only to go wide and be blocked off by Dani Carvajal, then Niclas Fullkrug was offside when hitting the inside of the upright.

Courtois, who was making his first start of the Champions League this season, also parried another Adeyemi counter and got down to push away the Marcel Sabitzer snapshot.
Real Madrid came out fighting for the second half, the Toni Kroos free kick palmed out of the near top corner, but Courtois was again alert on a diving Fullkrug header.
Jude Bellingham just failed to get his head to the Vinicius cross and it skimmed the far post, but Dani Carvajal did manage to nod in a Kroos corner to give Real Madrid the lead.

Bellingham should’ve added another three minutes later, but prodded inches wide with a decisive Nico Schlotterbeck deflection.
The sensational Edouard Camavinga curler was fingertipped over the bar, along with a Nacho header on the corner.
Vinicius Junior sealed it on a Bellingham assist, but Ian Maatsen gave it away horribly in the final third.
