Inter are facing another potentially tricky situation in the midfield, as Petar Sucic isn’t thrilled with how much he’s played so far and also expects a new contract.
Dinamo Zagreb president and TV pundit Zvonimir Boban straight-up advised the youngster to ask out since he’s not a staple of the formation.
According to Calciomercato, the Nerazzurri don’t see a real threat of that happening, but some discontent is simmering behind the scenes. The Croat wishes for a larger role, but the acquisition of Curtis Jones has affected his minutes. He has appeared five times so far, starting twice.
Moreover, the Sucic entourage believes the time has come to ask Inter for a raise. His €1.5M salary hasn’t been increased since he joined from Dinamo Zagreb, when he was still relatively unknown. On the other hand, it’s far from a priority for the team, as he’s already under contract until 2030. They have more urgent renewals to tend to, like those of Hakan Calhanoglu, Federico Dimarco, and Carlos Augusto.
The midfielder will have to earn his minutes and a potential pay bump by seizing his opportunities on the pitch. He starred in 50 tilts last season, getting the nod in half of them. He had foreboding remarks when asked about it during the break.
“We’ll take stock in two or three months.”
The upcoming tour de force and the inevitable heavy rotation will placate many complaints from underutilized players. Plus, he hasn’t exactly been stellar so far this season. Still, the hierarchy indeed didn’t show a lot of confidence in him and Aleksandar Stankovic by acquiring another top-notch midfielder and might face the music for it.
