Antonio Conte has already had an incredible career, and it doesn’t look set to stop with his current run at Napoli.
The Italian side won the Serie A title last season and went on to win the Supercoppa Italiana at the end of 2025, marking his second trophy in just over a year.
A lot of success has come from his team building and clever transfers, with Scott McTominay being a perfect example.
The former Manchester United midfielder joined the Italian giants in the summer 2024 and in his debut season won the Serie A MVP and Player of the Year.
However, the links with United didn’t stop there as Napoli signed Rasmus Hojlund on a season-long loan deal in the summer.
Since then, Hojlund has found his form after struggling at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, having scored nine goals and grabbed three assists in 24 games.
Speaking about the striker in his pre-match press conference today, as reported by GetFootballItaly, Antonio Conte made some critical remarks, which were fairly obviously aimed at Amorim.
The Italian manager commented: “Some young coaches nowadays are arrogant and don’t want to adapt. They see a young striker struggling, and instead of training him, they blame him.”
“They always complain and blame everyone but themselves, because everything is handed to them on a silver platter.”
Amorim was extremely rigid with his 3-4-3 system, a stubbornness which was a major factor leading to his tensions with Jason Wilcox and his ultimate departure from Old Trafford.
Whilst Conte doesn’t explicitly name Ruben Amorim, with the reference to not wanting to adapt and a young manager, it’s not hard to know who he means.
