Enzo Fernandez has earned rave reviews from local media after his performance for Argentina in their friendly against Mauritania.
The 25-year-old got on the scoresheet as Argentina recorded a narrow 2-1 win, and he’ll be relieved to get back amongst the goals having not scored in his last seven Premier League matches.
Fernandez cast doubt over his Chelsea future after the 8-2 aggregate defeat to PSG in the Champions League, and has been linked with both the French champions and Real Madrid.
The midfielder has repeatedly said he’ll decide on his future after the World Cup, with Chelsea said to be open to offers for Fernandez.
With Chelsea struggling have lost their last four games, the international break has arguably come at a good time, and the Argentine media were impressed with what they saw from Fernandez.
Fernandez received the highest rating of any Argentina player, and OLE have provided more insight on his performance.
“He stood on the left and always looked for the middle. A permanent axis, he came on as a 9 to define after starting the play in his own half in the first. 7/10.”
The stats back up Fernandez’s performance, and as well as getting on the scoresheet, he had 69 touches in total, a passing accuracy of 93% and played nine passes into the final third.
Next up for Argentina is a game against Zambia, and Fernandez will be hoping to impress again before returning to Chelsea to prepare for next weekend’s FA Cup quarter final against Port Vale.
