Arsenal have won two out of three games so far in the 2025/26 campaign. The loss to Liverpool was tough to take, with a late free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai the difference. The Gunners will still have high hopes for the season, despite the early-season loss to their title rivals. It was a busy summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta signing players such as Viktor Gyokeres, Martín Zubimendi, and Eberchi Eze. Noni Madueke also signed from Chelsea, leaving many wondering about the future of Leandro Trossard. Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal are not planning for Trossard’s exit.
Arsenal couldn’t keep pace with Liverpool in the 2024/25 title race and ultimately finished 10 points adrift, failing to win a major trophy. Arteta has done good business in the summer, strengthening in attack, while also signing defender Piero Hincapie and defensive midfielder Christian Nørgaard. The squad looks more rounded than last season, leaving Arsenal fans hopeful despite the defeat to Liverpool.
The Gunners will be eager to challenge on all fronts, and squad players like Leandro Trossard are vitally important. The Belgian winger has been linked with a move to Besiktas in recent days, despite only agreeing a new deal with Arsenal this summer. It now appears that Arsenal are not planning for Trossard’s exit, and a move to the Turkish Super Lig has no chance of happening.
Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 in a £27million deal. During his time at Arsenal, he has established himself as an important and versatile member of Arteta’s squad. The Belgian has a vital knack of popping up and scoring in big games. He’s an intelligent player who is adept at making the right decisions, whether to shoot or make a pass.
His ability with either foot means he can play on either wing, which is a vital weapon for Arteta. He’s great with the ball at his feet and is capable of exposing gaps in opposition defences. Trossard is comfortable in possession and composed in front of goal, making him a key weapon for Mikel Arteta.
