Diario AS reports that Arsenal will be going for Real Madrid standout Rodrygo. However, there are hurdles. The report highlights Rodrygo’s wages as Arsenal’s biggest concern.
Nico Williams’ salary demands already put off the Gunners, and Rodrygo’s pay packet is even higher than most of the current squad.
Real Madrid are paying Rodrygo around €240,385 a week—roughly £206,000—which is more than all but four Arsenal players: Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, and Declan Rice.
With Rodrygo’s transfer fee expected to exceed €90 million (£77 million), Arsenal would need to factor his wages into what would already be a major investment.
The Spanish outlet also reports that Arsenal may be ready to sanction a major sale to help balance the books—and that could involve one of the players Rodrygo would directly compete with.
According to the report, neither Gabriel Martinelli nor Leandro Trossard have fully locked down the left-wing spot. Both players now face uncertain futures for different reasons.
