Arsenal have been active in the transfer market this summer. Mikel Arteta's squad has already added Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga as they bid to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.
However, even with a host of new faces in the squad, Arsenal have moved to steal Eberechi Eze from under the noses of Tottenham Hotspur. Things have moved quickly since Arteta's team submitted its bid.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Eze is heading to North London to undergo his medical ahead of the move being finalized.
"Eberechi Eze’s medical at Arsenal has been booked from Friday, after tonight’s game with Crystal Palace," Romano reported via X.
Eze has emerged as an exciting young winger in the Premier League. He's been with Crystal Palace since 2020 and has slowly become a key member of the squad. Last season, Eze chipped in with eight goals and eight assists in 34 games, meaning he was involved in a goal approximately once in every four outings.
Furthermore, Eze has 59 goals and 34 assists in his career, giving him 93 goal involvements in 271 matches across multiple leagues in England. Still, a move to Arsenal is a step up in quality. He will have better teammates, meaning a tougher route into the starting 11.
Eze will also have higher expectations on his shoulders, as well as potentially featuring in European competition.
A move to a top-five club feels like the logical next step in Eze's career. As long as he comes through his medical with no surprises, a move to Arsenal should be cemented within the next few days.
From there, Eze's eyes will be firmly on winning the Premier League and booking his spot in the England World Cup squad for next summer.
