Arsenal’s dramatic hijack of Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Eberechi Eze may not mark the end of their summer spending, with Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers now emerging as a potential target.
The Gunners struck a £67.5M ($90.9M) deal with Crystal Palace for Eze, paying £60m up front with a further £7.5m in add-ons. It is one of the transfer window’s most dramatic twists, with Spurs convinced they had secured the E ngland international before Arsenal swooped late on Wednesday.
Eze, a boyhood Arsenal supporter who previously spent time in the club’s academy, is expected to complete his medical ahead of the weekend after featuring for Palace in their Europa Conference League playoff.
Mikel Arteta’s side is now considering a move for Rogers, one of the Premier League’s rising stars. The 23-year-old enjoyed a breakout campaign under Unai Emery last season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions and impressing with his versatility, creativity and growing international recognition.

Villa, however, are determined to keep him. The Midlands club reportedly value Rogers at around £80M ($107.7M) and have insisted he is not for sale, viewing him as central to its long-term project. With recent sales easing financial pressures, Villa are under no obligation to cash in.
Arsenal’s renewed interest has been fueled by Kai Havertz’s knee injury, which has left Arteta short of attacking options. While Eze’s arrival helps cover that gap, Rogers’ ability to operate wide, centrally or as a second striker makes him an appealing addition as the Gunners prepare for a demanding domestic and European campaign.
If a deal were to materialize, Rogers would become Arsenal’s eighth signing of a window that has already pushed their outlay close to £200M ($269.4M). It would further underline the club's determination to build a squad capable of sustaining a legitimate Premier League title challenge.
Having already beaten Spurs to Eze, Arsenal could now test Villa’s resolve over one of its brightest talents, a move that would represent another bold statement of intent from a club showing both decisiveness and financial clout.
