Arsenal will face Leeds United this weekend as the Premier League returns, with the Gunners looking to get back to winning ways after their defeat to Brighton before the international break.
The break has not been without consequences, as several Arsenal players either missed international duty or were sent home early because of fitness concerns. However, the club have received some encouraging updates ahead of the Leeds match.
Some players remained at home to recover, while others returned from their national team camps earlier than expected. Arsenal now appear to have several players available again.
Sports Illustrated reports that Cristhian Mosquera is fit again after suffering an injury before the break. The defender spent time training back at Valencia as he worked to return to his best condition.
Declan Rice also withdrew from England duty because of fitness concerns, but his situation turned out to be related to load management rather than a serious injury. The report says the midfielder is fit and available for the Leeds United match.
That will come as a major boost to Mikel Arteta, particularly with Arsenal looking to respond after their loss to Brighton. Rice remains an important part of the team and could return to the starting lineup this weekend.
Max Dowman was another player sent home early from the international break, but he has recovered and is now available if Arteta decides to use him against Leeds.
Ben White did not play for England during the break either, but Arsenal have also received positive news regarding the defender.
The report says White is now fit and available for the match against the Whites, giving Arteta another option as he prepares his team for the Premier League fixture.
With Mosquera, Rice, Dowman and White all reportedly available again, Arsenal have received several encouraging fitness updates ahead of the game.
The Gunners will hope those players can contribute as they attempt to return to winning ways against Leeds United and put their defeat to Brighton behind them.
