Arsenal are reportedly preparing for a busy January transfer window, with Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae emerging as a potential target. According to the Metro, the Gunners have been linked with a move for the South Korean international as they consider ways to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.

Min-jae established himself among the game’s leading defenders during his time at Napoli. Arsenal were interested in signing him from the Italian club after he helped them win the league title in 2023, but they ultimately missed out on securing his services.

Arsenal could revisit their interest in Min-jae

Bayern Munich won the race for Min-jae’s signature, and he has remained with the German club since making the move. He has continued to feature for Bayern, although the depth of their defensive options means competition for regular playing time is intense.

With several high quality defenders available to them, Bayern could consider allowing Min-jae to leave if a suitable offer arrives. Arsenal may see that situation as an opportunity to revive their interest, particularly if they believe the defender could strengthen their options at the back.

However, persuading Bayern to part with an established player during the middle of the season may prove challenging. The German side would need to be satisfied with the financial terms and confident that losing Min-jae would not weaken their squad at a crucial stage of the campaign.

January transfer plans could be important for Arsenal

Arsenal are expected to explore ways to improve their squad in January as they look to maintain their challenge this season. Manchester City have proved stronger than many anticipated, potentially making the race for success more difficult for the Gunners than it was last season.

Adding a defender of Min-jae’s quality could give Arsenal another option as they pursue their ambitions. His previous experience in Italian football and his continued involvement at Bayern could make him an appealing target, provided the club can agree on a realistic fee.

Min-jae could reportedly be open to a move to England, leaving Arsenal with the task of convincing Bayern to sanction a midseason departure. A substantial bid might improve their chances, but there is no guarantee that the German club would accept an offer in January.
