AS Monaco decide to terminate Paul Pogba contract

Paul Pogba has endured another difficult chapter in a career that once saw him become one of Manchester United’s biggest stars.

The French midfielder first joined United as a youngster before leaving for Juventus in 2012.

He returned to Old Trafford four years later in a then world-record deal worth around €105 million.

Pogba went on to win the Europa League and League Cup during his second spell with United.

He eventually left again in 2022 after his contract expired.

Since then, injuries and other setbacks have badly disrupted his career.

Pogba returned to Juventus but struggled for regular football before eventually joining Monaco in 2025.

The move was supposed to give him a fresh start in Ligue 1.

Instead, his first season produced just six competitive appearances.

CentreDevils reported earlier today that Pogba had suffered another injury during Monaco’s pre-season camp in England.

The 33-year-old went down during training and required treatment before leaving the session.

Now, his future has taken an even more dramatic turn.

Monaco make final decision on Pogba future

According to Nice-Matin, AS Monaco have decided to terminate Paul Pogba’s contract.

The report states that the decision was made before his latest injury.

Monaco had already informed Pogba several weeks ago that they wanted to bring his time at the club to an end.

The two parties must now reach a financial agreement before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Monaco are expected to pay Pogba the remaining salary owed on his contract.

Pogba had signed a two-year deal when he joined the club in June 2025.

He was therefore entering the final year of that agreement.

His latest injury only appears to have confirmed a decision Monaco had already reached.

Pogba had only recently returned to group training before suffering a new left thigh problem.

He had also missed previous pre-season matches because of a right knee issue.

The midfielder will now be free to search for another club once his Monaco contract is formally terminated.
