Crysencio Summerville is becoming one of the players to watch this summer after a successful showing at the 2026 World Cup.
Despite The Netherlands only making it through to the Round of 32, Summerville did well, grabbing two goals and two assists at the tournament.
His first goal came in The Netherland’s opening game against Japan, drawing 2-2, while against Sweden in their 5-1 victory he scored and set up Cody Gakpo.
However, in the knock-out round, they failed to defeat Morocco, losing on penalties 4-3 after the game ended 1-1 thanks to a Summerville assist to Gakpo once again.
Now the tournament is over, with West Ham United having been relegated, top clubs are circling, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that AS Roma are firmly in the mix.
The Serie A giants are understood to see him as a strong option to boost their attack, having held him in high regard for some time.
Summerville arrived at West Ham United from Leeds United in the summer of 2024, having just been named the Championship’s Player of the Season at Elland Road.
He signed a five-year deal at the London Stadium for a reported £25 million (€29.3 million), and has so far made 56 appearances for The Hammers.
However, relegation has changed his position entirely, with the Hammers needing to raise funds and the winger unlikely to want a season outside the top flight at 24.
Now, thanks to the relegation, his £40 million (€46.9 million) relegation-triggering release clause has come into play, with West Ham set to make a profit on the winger.
As such, Manchester United have been monitoring Summerville, seeing him as a strong option to rotate with Matheus Cunha on the left wing, while Liverpool have also been looking to the Netherlands international.
However, he isn’t alone on the shortlist, with RB Salzburg’s Diego Moreira, Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis, and Chelsea’s Alejandro Garnacho also on the list.
Roma are understood to have made a bid of £34 million to Chelsea for Garnacho, consisting of a £4 million loan deal and a £30 million obligation to buy.
While no news has emerged of Chelsea’s thoughts of the offer, or of any competition for Garnacho, Roma have stiff competition if they plan to land the signing of Summerville.
