AS Roma defender Evan Ndicka would be keen to try his luck in the Premier League amid Tottenham interest

It has been widely reported over recent days that Tottenham defender Cristian Romero is ready to join Atletico Madrid in the summer after recently holding private talks with their boss Diego Simeone.

The 2022 World Cup winner enters the final two years of his contract at White Hart Lane this June, and the Lilywhites, after previously considering him untouchable, are now ready to cash him in if the right offer arrives. They want £50m for Romero and have started scouring the market for his replacement.

Regardless of what happens with Romero, the North Londoners would be eyeing defensive reinforcements after a lot of injury problems this season. Micky Van de Ven and Romero have spent the majority of the campaign on the sidelines, and the long-term absence of the first-choice centre-back pairing has hugely hurt Ange Postecoglou’s side.

In addition, Radu Dragusin has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL rupture back in January. Winter loan recruit from RC Lens, Kevin Danso has also been out since February with a hamstring injury. Thus, addressing the defensive conundrum is an absolute must for Spurs before heading into the 2025/26 season.

Now, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham are among several clubs eyeing a move for AS Roma defender Evan Ndicka. They have scouted the 25-year-old this season and could be ready to go for him when the transfer window reopens in June.

Ndicka joined AS Roma from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, and he’s done very well in Italy. The Ivory Coast international has racked up 77 appearances, including 43 this season. He may have registered just one goal and four assists since arriving in Rome, but the 25-year-old was a massive goalscoring threat back during his Frankfurt days—as evidenced by his 12 goals and 10 assists.

The aforementioned report adds Brighton, Bournemouth and West Ham United have all joined Tottenham in the chase for Ndicka’s signature. The defender is keen to try his luck in the Premier League after his adventure in Italy.

Despite Ndicka’s consistent performances, Roma could decide to sell him. This is in order to raise cash if they fail to qualify for Europe, and the Premier League clubs continue monitoring the centre-back’s situation in Rome.

At 25, the Paris-born star is yet to hit his prime as a centre-back, so he will fit the Lilywhites’ recruitment model. All in all, Tottenham must test Roma’s resolve with a cheeky bid for Ndicka during the summer transfer window.
