Asking price set: Tottenham want technically-gifted central midfielder, club ready to sell

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has been outstanding for the German club this season, and they are prepared to sanction his departure. According to GMS, Tottenham will have to pay £50 million in order to get the deal done.

They are long-term admirers of the talented midfielder, and they could look to submit an offer for him this summer. However, their asking price is quite steep, and it seems unlikely that Tottenham will agree to pay that kind of money for the player.

Larsson has been linked with Arsenal as well.

Tottenham need midfield depth

There is no doubt that they need more creativity and control in the middle of the park, and the technically gifted Swedish midfielder would be the ideal acquisition.

Convincing him to join the club will not be difficult. They have secured Champions League qualification for the next season, and players like Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall could play a role in convincing their compatriot to join the club.

However, Tottenham will have to negotiate a reasonable asking price with the German club. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

Hugo Larsson would be a future investment

Tottenham are looking to build a formidable squad for the future, and signing one of the best young midfielders in Europe would be a wise decision. Even though he’s likely to cost a premium, he might be able to justify the investment in future.

That said, Tottenham need to improve multiple areas of the squad and spending £50 million on the youngster might not be possible for them. They might need to get rid of multiple fringe players in order to raise funds for his signature.

The 20-year-old will be attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League. Regular football in England could accelerate his development.
