One of Chelsea’s manager targets has been labelled as a refined, calm, master tactician ahead of the club making their next appointment to replace the departed Mauricio Pochettino.

It was an abrupt end for Pochettino in the end with fans believing he had done enough to keep his position as Blues boss going into next season. However, it appears there are just too many differences between the two and too many disagreements about moving forward. The mutually agreed to part ways earlier this week.

Chelsea must now focus on replacing him as soon as they can with a new season pending. The summer transfer window is also about to open and potential new players arriving at Chelsea are likely to want to know who will be coaching them next season. There is a lot to figure out.

The Athletic have some words on one potential candidate, Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town. It seems according to some outlets at least, McKenna has become a bit of a favourite to take the role.

What have The Athletic said about him?

It seems like McKenna has a lot of admirers in the footballing world after gaining promotion with Ipswich Town this season, and The Athletic are one of those admirers it seems!

On Kieran McKenna, they say he’s refined, calm, and a master tactician. He can become an elite manager. It was recognised at the LMA awards on Tuesday night when he won the Manager of the Year award, beating both Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.

I’m pretty sure we heard Graham Potter being described as the same way when he took charge at Chelsea and we all know how that ended up, right? It’s safe to say that like most Chelsea fans, I’d be VERY sceptical about appointing McKenna, to say the least.
