Reports in Italy claim that Cristian Giuntoli might not be out of work for long following the confirmation of his Juventus departure, as LaLiga outfit Atletico Madrid have expressed an interest in picking up the newly-available sporting director.

Juventus have officially confirmed that Giuntoli has left his position as sporting director via mutual agreement, bringing a two-year association with the Bianconeri to an end.

The Bianconeri are now on the hunt for a replacement, and a permanent head coach to lead the team into the 2025-26 season. The senior management, meanwhile, will now be led by recently-appointed general manager Damien Comolli and club legend Giorgio Chiellini.

Reports Atletico interested in ex-Juventus director Giuntoli

Though Giuntoli’s departure was only confirmed on Tuesday, reports on the same evening claim that Atletico Madrid have expressed an ‘openness’ to bringing him on board, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio

Atleti have been without a sporting director since Italian executive Andrea Berta left the club in order to take up a new job with Premier League side Arsenal

Prior to joining Juventus in 2023, Giuntoli had spent eight years as sporting director of Napoli, which came after a six-year spell in the same role with Carpi. He also spent one season as technical director of Spezia during the 2008-09 campaign.
