Today, the second Champions League semifinal will be played in Madrid, with pain as Atletico Madrid hosts Arsenal for the first leg.

Atletico Madrid eliminated FC Barcelona in the quarterfinals a few weeks ago by winning 3-2 on aggregate. Arsenal eliminated Sporting CP in the quarterfinals after winning 1-0 on aggregate.

Over the weekend, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal played in their respective domestic leagues. Both teams won their respective league match.

Atletico Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-2 at home with a goal from Antoine Griezmann and two goals from Alexander Sorloth.

Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 1-0 with a goal from Eberechi Eze, which keeps them top of the Premier League table.

Atletico Madrid and Arsenal met earlier this season in the Champions League group stage on October 21, 2025. The game was played at the Emirates Stadium, and Arsenal won the game 4-0 with goals from Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli, and two goals from Viktor Gyokeres.
