Talksport also reports on the news of the impending move for Laporte to the Gulf state. They add in their report that Laporte will sign a 3 year contract worth over £64 million. They further add that a transfer fee of around £25.6 million has been agreed between the two clubs.
Once the move is complete it will bring an end to the Spanish international’s time with Manchester City. Aymeric Laporte has been a warrior at times during his spell with the European champions. He played through a severe injury at the end of the 21/22 campaign to help his side clinch the Premier League title. It was a heroic effort by one of the most important players for City at the time. Without Laporte playing through the pain barrier the second of three consecutive titles may not have happened.
All up Laporte made 180 appearances for the treble winners. He scored 12 goals for the club during that spell. He has also been a fan favorite during his spell at the Etihad. Laporte’s love of the club and the fans has been an endearing quality of the Spanish international.
