Barcelona opened the season with a comfortable 5–0 friendly win against Daegu. Marcus Rashford debuted in fresh colours and found the back of the net in the 65th minute. Everything was going smoothly until Pau Cubarsí picked up a knock late in the game.

He was substituted by coach Hansi Flick, and fans grew worried about the youngster’s condition. However, Flick reassured them that it was “just a knock.” As things stand, Cubarsí may be rested for the upcoming friendlies to regain full fitness before La Liga begins.

Flick seems happy with the performance today. "We have 26 players and four goalkeepers," he said. "We don’t have to think any further. I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far."

However, it is not just Cubarsí's injury that is a concern for the management. Registering Rashford is another big issue.

Marcus Rashford Could Be Barred From Playing for Barcelona

Barcelona has been financially in a very weak spot for the past few seasons and that has caused them issues in registering players. Rashford risks missing Barcelona’s LaLiga opener due to delayed registration under LaLiga’s salary cap rules.

The England forward joined Barca on a season-long loan from Manchester United on July 23, 2025, but Barca have yet to register him alongside other summer signings amid said financial constraints. Despite his performance in the debut, he remains ineligible for competitive league fixtures.

President Joan Laporta says the club is working to complete filings before the August 16 opener against Mallorca, while Rashford stays focused on training and trusts Barca to resolve issue.

"It's something for the club to sort out," he told. "I believe they are going to get it sorted. I just focus on training and be ready for the start of the season."
