Barcelona have officially completed another major signing as they continue strengthening Hansi Flick’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Manchester United have monitored several Borussia Dortmund players over recent transfer windows.

Julian Ryerson has been among those linked to Old Trafford before the Red Devils focused on other priorities.

The club also explored a move for another Bundesliga attacker during Ruben Amorim’s time in charge.

However, Michael Carrick has since prioritised adding depth in different areas following Champions League qualification.

Now, another player previously linked with United has officially sealed a move to the Spanish champions.

Barcelona officially sign Borussia Dortmund star

Barcelona have officially announced, via their website, the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund after reaching an agreement with the Bundesliga side.

The Catalan club confirmed the Germany international has signed a five-year contract after agreeing a deal worth an initial €22 million, with a further €7 million in performance-related bonuses which was originally reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The move follows reports linking the 24-year-old with Manchester United.

Last year, it emerged that United had opened talks with Adeyemi’s representatives after Jorge Mendes began representing the winger, although a transfer never materialised.

Adeyemi heads to Spain after making 146 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 36 goals following his move from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022.

Barcelona had already been searching for another wide forward despite strengthening earlier this summer, and Adeyemi now provides Hansi Flick with another explosive attacking option.

The signing also appears to make it even less likely that Marcus Rashford returns to Barcelona following his loan spell.

The La Liga champions now well stocked in the wide attacking positions.

For Manchester United, attention remains on completing further additions of their own before pre-season gets fully underway, while Barcelona have landed another player who had previously appeared on the Red Devils’ shortlist.

The transfer was officially confirmed by Barcelona on the club’s website.
