The first El Clásico of the season between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will be played today at the Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain.

Both teams are six points apart in the La Liga table so far after 9 matches played each, with Barcelona top of the table with a perfect record of 9 wins while Real Madrid holds a record of seven wins and two defeats.

Last weekend, Barcelona extended their winning streak to nine after beating Real Betis 2-5 away from home, while Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 4-1 at home.

During the week, Barcelona suffered their first loss of the season after losing 4-2 to PSG in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Real Madrid defeated RB Leipzig 4-1 at the Bernabeu; that is four straight wins for Madrid across La Liga and the Champions League.

Team News for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid

FC Barcelona: Barcelona manager Hansi Flick will continue to not count on Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, and Eric Garcia, who were all out due to injury this past week.

During the week, Barcelona attacking midfielder Dani Olmo suffered a left adductor muscle injury during the PSG game and will be out for a month. Xavi Espart reportedly had a knock after the PSG game but is included in the squad.

Barcelona will still have key players like Pedri, Rodri, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal available to play today. Flick called up 17-year-old midfielder Orian Goren and 18-year-old center-back Alex Campos to the Barcelona squad.

Real Madrid: Vinicius Junior remains suspended and will not feature for Real Madrid today against FC Barcelona. The Brazilian winger received a four-game suspension after his red card against Villarreal a few weeks ago; today is the second game of his suspension.

A big change in the squad, which was announced by the club, is the absence of Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois due to the flu. Real Madrid confirmed that 19-year-old goalkeeper Illia Voloshyn has been called up to the squad in his place.

New reports suggested that Courtois is fine and wants to play the match, but he was not seen with the squad upon arrival at Barcelona; he is now confirmed to be missing the match today.
