Barcelona are hoping to be busy this summer, but before they can buy, they need to raise funds in order to return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule. There are a number of players that could be moved on, but one of them won’t be Dani Olmo.

Olmo was Barcelona’s one and only first team signing last summer, and while it has been a fantastic season for the treble-winning Catalans, he has performed under par. Injuries have been his downfall, as he has struggled to string together a consistent run of matches due to often being in the treatment room.

Barcelona not considering Dani Olmo sale

Despite this, Barcelona are still very much counting on Olmo for the foreseeable future, which is why they have made it clear to any interested parties that the Spain international is not for sale, as per Sport.

Manchester City will be forced to look elsewhere

This comes after reports earlier in the week that Manchester City have lined up Olmo as a leading target to replace the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne. The Premier League side already approached him in January during the period that his La Liga registration was revoked, and they have planned to return in the summer. However, they will be met by strong resistance if they do.

Barcelona consider Olmo to be a differential player, and because of this, they have no plans to sell. And the player himself is also not thinking about a move away, as he only wants to remain in Catalonia.

It has been a tricky season for Olmo, but he has lots of time to come good. If he can manage to stay injury-free during the 2025-26 season, he will be an undisputed starter for Hansi Flick, of that there is no doubt. Man City will need to look elsewhere in their bid to sign a new attacking midfielder.
