Barcelona left-back Gerard Martin addressed the incident involving Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries in the Champions League semifinals.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo via FCInterNews, the 23-year-old remembered the dramatic encounter at San Siro.

Inter Milan beat Barcelona in an epic semifinal last season.

Indeed, one of the best Champions League knockout ties saw the Nerazzurri emerge 7-6 aggregate winners.

However, the Catalan giants were minutes away from sealing qualification for the grand final.

Francesco Acerbi thought otherwise as he sent the tie into extra-time with a last-gasp equalizer.

Yet, the incident in the build-up left Barcelona fuming.

Furthermore, Hansi Flick’s men complained about Dumfries’ alleged foul on Inigo Martinez.

Barcelona urged the referees to disallow the goal, but their appeals fell on the officials’ deaf ears.

Inter would go on to progress, courtesy of Davide Frattesi’s iconic winner.

“Yes, for me it was a foul. I’m being honest,” Martin replied when asked about the controversial moment.

“Some time has passed now, but to me, it was a foul in our favor.”

Moreover, Martin confirmed he reviewed the incident multiple times.

“Yes, especially right after the match or the next day.

“I watched that action a lot because I felt something on the pitch that wasn’t called, and I wanted to see if it really was what I felt.”

Then, he admitted there was nothing he could’ve done to stop Dumfries afterward.

“No, it’s not that I thought I could’ve done more, because if I had to, there was really nothing else I could do.”

Furthermore, he labeled this remarkable contest as the match of his life.

“Personally, yes, it was one of my best. I also really enjoyed the game at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

“The match against Inter ended badly for everyone.

“Even though I was happy with my individual performance, I ended up being very upset about the final result.”

Finally, he played down talk that Barcelona were afraid of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

“No, we feel capable of competing against anyone, with confidence and without fear.”
