Schweinsteiger lauds Rashford’s natural talent: ‘You could see it instantly’

When talking about the best British homegrown talents, everyone is going to think of the likes of Wayne Rooney, Sir Bobby Charlton and Harry Kane, however, there is no way you can mention the best without including Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester United forward, on loan at Aston Villa, arrived on the scene with amazing two-footed talent and sparkling dribbling from the outset. Unfortunately, coupled with his talent, consistency was a challenge for Rashford – a major factor in his decline. Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT , Bastian Schweinsteiger recalled his time with Rashford at Old Trafford, saying he sadly feels “sad” to see Rashford’s situation.

The former World Cup champion spent just under two seasons playing alongside Marcus Rashford, from July 2015 until March 2017, and reflected on how much he “loved playing” with the now 27-year-old, highlighting the “unbelievable qualities” he possessed that stood out early on.

Earlier in this campaign, Rashford fell out with manager Ruben Amorim and subsequently joined Aston Villa alone in January. He has since delivered encouraging performances under Unai Emery, scoring four times and getting six assists in 17 appearances. Schweinsteiger admitted he was overjoyed to see Rashford regain his form at Villa Park, adding: ‘it’s good to see him getting back to his best. ‘

The former Midfielder believes Rashford just needs the right environment

In his interview with GIVEMESPORT’s senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs, Schweinsteiger believes that Rashford needed “the right players” and the right people around him to succeed at Manchester United.

In the Interview, the World Cup winner reminisced on how Louis van Gaal brought Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard into the first team, and said that Rashford’s ability was obvious straight away with his speed, technique, and a bit of cheeky character.

Schweinsteiger believes it was just unfortunate that Rashford wasn’t able to do more with Manchester United and England, and further added that he may have just needed the right players and people around him to really take flight.

Reflecting on their time together, Schweinsteiger said he enjoyed playing with Rashford and always saw his exceptional qualities, and is currently happy for Rashford as he appears to rediscover form at Aston Villa, and wished him well for the future.

Everyone knows just how talented Rashford is, and while a fresh start elsewhere remains a possibility, the ideal scenario would be for him to rediscover his best form back at Old Trafford. If he can reignite the spark that once made him one of England’s brightest talents, a return to Manchester United could benefit both the club and the player.
