Bayern Munich hold renewed talks for Liverpool star

Luis Díaz may be the next Premier League export to land in Bavaria. According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have held fresh talks with the representatives of the Liverpool winger in recent days. While Liverpool have blocked all movement for now, the player himself is reportedly open to leaving Anfield—but only if a “really exciting” offer arrives.

This isn’t the first time Bayern have sniffed around Díaz. The Colombian has long been on their radar, and the club’s interest has only intensified this summer as they continue to search for a top-tier left winger. With Leroy Sané now at Galatasaray, and both Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry struggling with form and injuries, Bayern’s need for a revitalized attack on the left is no longer optional—it’s urgent.

Bayern’s Premier League obsession continues

There’s a clear pattern developing in Bavaria: Bayern love their Premier League forwards. Michael Olise, signed from Crystal Palace last year, turned out to be a brilliant piece of business. Harry Kane, despite a trophyless first season, proved to be every bit the elite No. 9 they needed. Leroy Sané was a success story for much of his time in Germany, even if his Bayern exit this summer ended unceremoniously.

And yes, there was Sadio Mané, another Liverpool export whose Bayern stint was forgettable at best. But the club sees Díaz as a different profile, one with better fitness reliability and stylistic compatibility with what Vincent Kompany is building.

Luis Díaz thrives on chaos: explosive in tight spaces, excellent in transition, and unrelenting in his defensive work rate. The Bundesliga could be the perfect stage for him, especially in a league where pressing systems and open matches dominate. His ability to beat defenders one-on-one and carry the ball vertically would make him an immediate hit in Kompany’s expansive, high-tempo setup.

Liverpool must decide: keep or cash in?

The tension now lies in Liverpool’s hands. At 29, Díaz is nearing what many clubs would consider his peak resale value. He was sensational under Arne Slot last season, helping Liverpool win the Premier League title, but with younger talents like Cody Gakpo and potentially new wingers being lined up, this may be the right time to sell.

Díaz is not pushing for the move, but he won’t say no to it either. If Bayern come in with the kind of bid that turns heads—and that may require upwards of €60 million—Liverpool may have to consider letting him go.

Bayern, for their part, remain eager. Per Plettenberg, Max Eberl has been in direct contact with Díaz’s camp, and while Liverpool are resistant for now, there’s a growing sense this saga isn’t over.

If Kompany’s side land Díaz, it won’t just be a tactical upgrade—it’ll be a statement. Bayern Munich want to win the Champions League again, and they’re assembling the kind of forward line that can get them there.
