Tottenham are looking to address the issues at the back after enduring a disastrous Premier League campaign last season. The Lilywhites struggled to keep clean sheets in the league, and one of the main reasons for that was the injury crisis that the defensive line endured. Not only that, but key players struggled to make an impact week in week out, and that led to Ange Postecoglou’s sack in June.
The North London club cannot have a repeat of that next season as they look to finish strong in domestic competitions under Thomas Frank. Daniel Levy is looking to bring in players that could bolster the defence and give cover to the first-team players. Spurs are going to play a game every three days next season, and it is important for the club to have good depth in all the positions.
It is fair to say that the ‘full-back’ position needs to be addressed quickly as the Lilywhites do not have enough cover there. With Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie, and Djed Spence being the only natural fullbacks in the first-team squad, Spurs must bring in another player that could provide depth in that position under Thomas Frank.
Tottenham are looking to secure a deal for a fullback as Thomas Frank aims to kickstart a new era at N17. With Pedro Porro linked with a move to Barcelona and Destiny Udogie potentially heading to AC Milan, Daniel Levy must aim to bring in a new defender that would fill in the void left behind by the pair.
It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites were edging closer towards the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters. The England international has been a free agent after his contract at Southampton ended earlier this month. And the 28-year-old is on the radar for many clubs as he looks to rejuvenate his career quickly. The report had also mentioned that the fullback was keen to rejoin Tottenham and work under Thomas Frank.

However, there is a new twist in the transfer saga involving the ex-Southampton star. As per Fabrizio Romano (via X), Besiktas have now leapfrogged Spurs and are closing in on the 28-year-old’s signature. The journalist also adds that the Turkish giants have a clear pathway for Kyle Walker-Peters, and are aiming to give him regular gametime next season.
There is a high possibility that Spurs miss out on the 28-year-old and Daniel Levy might need to look for other alternatives in the coming weeks. The Lilywhites are also interested in Sunderland fullback Dennis Cirkin, and believe that he might be a good option to have in the ranks if the club misses out on Walker-Peters. However, Levy must be quick and do everything he can to land the Sunderland defender as the new season is just on the horizon.
