The 48th edition of the Copa America kicks off on the 21st of June, as defending champions Argentina take on Canada in Group A. La Albiceleste will be looking to successfully defend their title against their biggest rivals Brazil, whom they beat in the 2021 final. Ahead of the competition, the Selecao were dealt a huge blow to their morale by none other than Brazilian legend Ronaldinho Gaucho.
Ronaldinho Gaucho is by far, one of the most talented and skillful players the country has ever produced. His legacy is celebrated across generations, both in Brazil and globally. However, the 44-year-old recently lashed out against the national team and explained why he won’t be supporting them at the upcoming tournament.
I've had enough. This is one of the worst teams in recent years with no respectable leaders and average players. I've never seen a situation as bad as this. Lack of love for the shirt, lack of grit and above all, a lack of love for football. Such a shame. Ronaldinho Gaucho posted on Instagram
Ronaldinho: “That’s it guys, I will not watch any Brazil game at the Copa América nor celebrate any victory”.

“I’ve had enough. It’s a sad moment for those who love Brazilian football. It’s hard now to find the spirit to watch the games”.

The former international stated that he will neither watch, support or celebrate any win the Selecao picks up at the Copa America.
Brazil, captained by Danilo and spearheaded in attack by Vinicius Jr. were unable to emulate their regular brilliant selves as the final score read 1-1 in a friendly.
Adding to Brazil’s embarrassment was the fact that the USMNT suffered a horrific 5-1 defeat to South American side Colombia four days prior. An early goal from Rodrygo Goes in the first half was not enough to hand Brazil the win as Christian Pulisic ‘s equalizer from a stunning free-kick earned then a hard-fought draw.

Brazil were second best against the Stars and Stripes even though statistics say otherwise. Following the game, fans opined that the South American powerhouse had fallen from their pedestal and weren’t as threatening a side as they used to be. Meanwhile, rivals Argentina picked up an impressive 4-1 win over Guatemala. Some appeared to agree with Ronaldinho, who claimed that this was indeed, one of the ‘worst’ Brazil sides ever.
