Tottenham Hotspur are poised to undergo a radical squad overhaul following an extremely underwhelming 2024/25 season that saw the club finish a lowly 17th place in the Premier League, having amassed just 38 points.
So far this transfer window, the majority of the North London club’s efforts have focused on strengthening their defence. The club has already confirmed the permanent capture of Kevin Danso from RC Lens, while they have agreed a fee with Kawasaki Frontale for the acquisition of highly-regarded Japanese prospect Kota Takai.
But, the attack is another area Spurs are looking to strengthen, especially after Richarlison enduring another injury-ravaged season and the well-documented waning of Son Heung-min’s powers. There is also the fact that Mathys Tel, who has signed on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich after doing enough on loan from January, needs more time to acclimatise to the demands of Premier League football.
Tottenham have been linked to a number of attacking players including Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, whom they missed out on last summer. Spurs were keen on signing Eberechi Eze last year but the Eagles were simply reluctant to let him go after selling two key players in Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen.
However, their interest in the England international never completely faded, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy aiming to make a ‘statement signing’ by bringing him to North London. The 26-year-old has a £68m release clause in his Crystal Palace contract that needs to be triggered by his suitors for his services.
Eze finished the 2024/25 campaign in wonderful fashion. The creative attacker scored nine goals in his last 13 matches for Palace, including a brace in the 2-0 league away victory over Spurs, followed by the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley last month. And now, it looks like the Lilywhites have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Eagles ace.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Palace are interested in a move for Bologna midfielder Dan Ndoye as a potential replacement for Eze.
“They have some players they are considering. Then some targets are not so easy,” Fabrizio Romano exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.
“For example, what I’m hearing is that the player they love internally is [Dan] Ndoye at Bologna.
“This is a winger who did fantastically in Serie A, but at the moment, the player is in advanced talks over personal terms with Napoli. There is also some interest from Germany.”
With interest in Eze hotting up and the player having a buyout clause, Palace feel the time is right to let him go and replace him with someone younger but with similar attributes. The native from Greenwich has been among the most exciting talents in the Premier League in recent years, and to get him on board, Tottenham have to pay a fortune.
However, Spurs have been joined by their arch-rivals Arsenal in the chase for Eze. This makes matters complicated for Tottenham, but if they are to avoid missing him out to Arsenal unlike in Christian Norgaard’s scenario, Levy must hurry up and pay the England star’s release clause.
