AFC Bournemouth have rejected an approach for Alex Scott as interest in the midfielder continues to intensify ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Scott in recent weeks as Michael Carrick looks to further strengthen his midfield options before the start of next season.

The Red Devils had identified Scott as a possible alternative to Mateus Fernandes after Tottenham Hotspur agreed both personal terms with the Portuguese midfielder and reached an agreement with West Ham United.

United have already secured an agreement to sign Ederson from Atalanta, but further additions in midfield are still expected as Carrick continues reshaping his squad.

However, it appears one club have already been informed that Scott will not be available this summer.

Bournemouth stance on Scott revealed

According to BBC Sport, Bournemouth have rejected an enquiry for Scott from Premier League champions Arsenal and have informed interested clubs that the 22-year-old is not for sale.

We’ve already covered that Bournemouth are keen to agree a new contract with the midfielder, whose current deal has two years remaining.

Alex Scott is also attracting serious interest from Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

The former Bristol City star enjoyed another impressive campaign on the south coast and was selected in his first senior England squad last November.

He was also included in Thomas Tuchel’s extended pre-World Cup training camp in Florida earlier this month, although he did not feature.

Reports earlier this month suggested Bournemouth had placed an £80 million valuation on Scott amid growing interest from several top clubs.

Despite Bournemouth’s firm stance, it remains to be seen whether further offers arrive later in the transfer window.

With interest continuing to grow and several elite clubs monitoring his situation, Scott’s future is likely to remain a major talking point throughout the summer.

For now, though, Bournemouth are determined to keep hold of one of their most important players as they prepare for a historic European campaign next season.
