Bremer commits to Juventus: ‘I never asked to leave’

Gleison Bremer has moved to quash speculation over his future, insisting he never asked to leave Juventus and remains committed to restoring the club to the top.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, via TuttoMercatoWeb, the Brazilian defender addressed both his fitness and his intentions after a summer of uncertainty.

“I’m fine. Obviously I’m not at my best yet, since I started my preparation later,” he said. “But I feel I’ll be back in condition soon, and I feel the squad is right.”

Bremer clarifies his Juventus ambition and future

Bremer was keen to put earlier comments, that Juventus could not settle for fighting over fourth place, into context.

“I like to clarify this point. I didn’t say those things because I was looking for an excuse to leave,” he explained.

“If anything, I was trying to express my ambition: I’m not content to end my career with a Coppa Italia on the shelf. I want more, and I want Juventus to return to the level they belong at. As Spalletti has said, we’re still a little way off, but we’re laying important building blocks, Kolo Muani, Alajbegović, and I’m betting on my friend Douglas Luiz, who has quality to spare and will show it.”

On his own future, the centre-back was unequivocal. “I have not asked Juventus to sell me. Especially at a difficult moment, for the club and for me, it would never cross my mind, it would be like running away,” he said. “If one day I part from Juve, perhaps when I’m older, I’ll walk out the front door with my head held high.”
