Bryan Mbeumo is already falling behind in pre-season at Brentford — and the delay could play right into Manchester United’s hands.
Mbeumo’s reported move to United has dragged out for most of the summer, with the club is still locked in negotiations with Brentford.
United have twice tried to sign the forward, with the last offer sitting around £63m. Mbeumo is still keen and sees this as a dream move. However, Brentford are ‘trying to hold on’ to the star man, with Spurs also showing interest as they look to replace Harry Kane.
Brentford were back in pre-season training this week under their new manager, Keith Andrews.
But as players returned to training, Mbeumo was nowhere to be seen – a curious absence that hints at the forward’s growing distance from the club – especially given his latest social media post from California.
Even as talks continue, United’s sluggish approach hasn’t gone unnoticed. Mbeumo, once eager, is starting to feel unsettled by the slow process – a frustration that hasn’t gone unnoticed at Brentford either.
According to The Standard, both player and club are growing impatient with how long it’s taking.
Spurs are reportedly monitoring the situation closely, and if negotiations continue to drag, the north London club might seize the opportunity.
The longer the talks drag on, the higher the price could climb – and ‘the less valued Mbeumo may feel at a club reluctant to make up the difference.
