Brighton left-back Ferdi Kadioglu claims he enjoyed his personal battle with Tottenham winger Mohammed Kudus

Mohammed Kudus’ strong start to life at Tottenham Hotspur is certainly going to sting West Ham United fans. The creative winger, who became the first player to make the switch from West Ham to Spurs since Scott Parker in 2011, has already shown his quality and become one of the first names on Thomas Frank’s teamsheet.

The Ghanaian international has clearly looked like a Tottenham player from the outset, and his performances on the pitch have been exciting. He is certainly proving one of the best pieces of business the Lilywhites have done in recent years, producing already many game-changing moments in the famous white shirt.

The 25-year-old has helped Thomas Frank’s side register four wins from their opening six games across all formats. Mohammed Kudus was a real handful against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, playing a key role in Spurs coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at the Amex Stadium. He produced two assists for Spurs and had an entertaining battle with Brighton left-back Ferdi Kadioglu.

Ferdi Kadioglu opens up on facing Kudus

Former Premier League striker turned pundit Alan Shearer has been impressed by Kudus’ performances in his embryonic Tottenham career, claiming he was a “consistent threat” against Brighton.

Indeed, Kudus was creating a lot of issues for the Brighton defence last weekend. Ferdi Kadioglu, making his first Premier League start in ten months, started at left-back and competed very well with the Spurs star. He missed nearly a year of football due to a toe injury, so it was a great moment for the Turkiye international when he was named sponsors’ man of the match after the 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

Speaking after the game, Kadioglu opened up on his personal battle with the lively Kudus in that game. The Brighton left-back felt he had a good game overall, whilst praising the Tottenham attacker.

“It was difficult,” Kadioglu was quoted by Sussex Express.

“I think first half I did really well, until 65 minutes – then I was a little bit tired. But Kudus is a great player, so he tries to search you every time, one against one.

“I tried my best today, I gave everything and I think I can look back on a good game.”

Kudus has been Tottenham’s best attacker under Frank

Due to his mix of flair, creativity, dribbling, ball-progression and work rate, Kudus has already become a fan favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His impact has been noteworthy in Frank’s system, with Spurs at times over-reliant on the African’s invention, movement and crossing.

The ex-Ajax man has already bagged four assists in six games and it is just a matter of time before he gets his first goal in a Tottenham shirt. All in all, Kudus has been by far the north London club’s best attacker this season. This is just the start for the 25-year-old, who has been backed to provide the ‘X-factor’ to Frank’s side by famous commentator and analyst Ian Darke.
