Fabio Capello feels Brighton’s Matt O’Riley would be a ‘reliable alternative’ to Marten de Roon at Atalanta, but the real challenge for La Dea will be to retain Ederson and Ademola Lookman.
Capello shared his thoughts on the first transfer news in Serie A with a column on Gazzetta dello Sport.
Not only did the former Milan, Roma, and Juventus boss suggest that Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee should return to Serie A from Manchester United, but he also argued that Atalanta should sign another player from the Premier League.
“The real challenge [for Atalanta] will be keeping top players like Ederson and Lookman,” wrote Capello.
“If Atalanta’s management can resist transfer market pressure, then I don’t think the team needs significant changes.”
Capello tells Atalanta to sign O’Riley
“It’s already a high-quality squad. In the market, I’d look for reliable alternatives to De Roon in midfield, and Matt O’Riley, who was already targeted last summer before ending up at Brighton, is the right name in my opinion. A quality warrior.”
