The rumours linking Chelsea to Brighton midfielder Felipe Caicedo have been rumbling along for some time – but it was only yesterday that things really exploded.
First we heard word of an Arsenal bid coming in to match ours, then later in the afternoon the player put a statement out on his social media claiming that there had been a Brighton club record bid for him, and that he wanted to leave.
Now, just 24 hours after things were shaken up, we’ve hit a new stage, as word comes out that Brighton have told Caicedo to stay away from training until the 1st of February after he deliberately missed today’s session.

What this means is that they’re digging their heels in – they won’t sell him for a penny less than they have asked for. This exile is all just part of a show of force – as we saw with Marc Cucurella, the Seagulls drive a hard bargain, but they also will happily do business at the right price.
