Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have excelled in Manchester United colours this season as the Red Devils strive for a top four finish in the Premier League.

Whilst the two players contribute from slightly different positions in the midfield, due to United’s set-up, they have been able to form a pivotal part of the side’s foundation.

Creating 97 chances between them, and making 90 too, the duo have been able to contribute at both ends of the field.

Meanwhile, their experience has arguably been crucial in guiding younger Manchester United players towards the levels needed for success in the league.

However, the two are now lost £19.9 million, as revealed on the Telegraph’s 2026 Tax List.

The two appear among the top ten highest paying players in the Premier League for 2026, and have contributed the money to the tax system.

Meanwhile, the figures on the list were calculated from corporation tax, dividend tax, capital gains tax, income tax and some payroll taxes as well as gambling and alcohol duties, according to the most recently filed company accounts up to January 10th of this year.

Speaking about earning figures for players, an account that represents over 100 footballers from the Premier League and Championship stated: “The earnings figures you will see in the media or on the more respectable [sports] websites are largely accurate.

“But those numbers only reflect basic pay.

“They don’t tend to include loyalty bonuses or additional payments when, say, their team makes it into the Champions League.

“Players also receive income from clubs for their image rights, such as the sale of T-shirts and other merchandise bearing their name or image.

“This extra income can be worth an extra £5 million or even £10 million for the leading players.”

It is not just the players who have to pay tax, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe also paying tax.

However, in the later stages of last year, he was caught up in controversy over his contribution with his ownership of Manchester United falling at the centre of this.

But, with this controversy now behind Ratcliffe and with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro now losing this amount of money due to taxation, supporters could look towards the duo to see how it affects them.
