Bruno Fernandes is currently enjoying some much-deserved downtime after Portugal crashed out of the 2026 World Cup at the hands of eventual winners Spain.

The Manchester United captain played a vital role in reaching the Round of 16, and now prepares to return to Carrington.

When he does return, Fernandes will meet his new midfield teammates as they prepare for the Champions League.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have arrived following Casemiro’s departure, with the squad needing depth to cope with a busier schedule.

However, looking to the Premier League, after finishing third last season, United will surely be looking to at least match that result this year.

As always, as the new season comes round, so too does Fantasy Football.

Now, the Premier League have officially revealed that, on the back of his record-breaking season last year, he’s enjoyed a major valuation rise in the game.

Last season, Fernandes cost £9 million of a squad’s £100 million cap.

That has now been increased to £12 million, one of the joint-biggest price rises in the game, after he broke the record for most assists in a single Premier League season, leading by example at Old Trafford.

The £3 million jump also sees the Portuguese equal his highest-ever Fantasy cost, last set at £12 million in 2021/22.

Thanks to his nine goals and 24 assists, the United captain finished last year as Fantasy’s second-highest scorer on 235 points, just nine behind his 2021/22 record of 244.

Only Erling Haaland, newly priced at £15.5 million, produced more double-figure returns last season.

Much of that came under Michael Carrick, with Fernandes the single highest-scoring Fantasy asset across the final 17 Gameweeks of the campaign.

He scored or assisted in 14 of his 17 matches under Carrick, a level of consistency that makes him a genuine captaincy rival to Haaland heading into the new season.

That case strengthens given United’s opening fixtures against promoted pair Hull City and Ipswich Town, with just one of their first eight matches rated tougher than average by the Fixture Difficulty Ratings.
