It was a night of family pride at the Unipol Domus as Inter Milan defeated Cagliari 2-0 in Serie A and the headlines belonged to 20-year-old Pio Esposito, who netted his first ever goal in Italy’s top flight to seal the victory.

The match also carried extra significance as Pio lined up against his older brother Sebastiano, now at Cagliari.

With both brothers on the pitch, their father Agostino was in the stands to witness a special occasion for the Esposito family.

Agostino Esposito Shares His Joy After Inter Milan Youngster Pio Esposito Scores First Serie A Goal Against Cagliari

Speaking to DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the final whistle, Agostino expressed his pride at Pio’s breakthrough moment.

“We’re happy, delighted and emotional for Pio’s first goal,” he said.

“The three brothers have a chat and there will definitely be some teasing. It’s an immense joy, we can only be happy. When Pio came on there was a lot of emotion because two brothers were on the pitch.”

He also praised both of his sons’ performances on the night, adding:

“I think Seba and Pio both played well. Now we’re outside waiting for them, it will take a little while. Dinner all together? No, because Pio has to return to Milan. There will be time to celebrate his first goal.”

The Nerazzurri youngster’s strike capped off a third consecutive win for Cristian Chivu’s side, who continue to climb the Serie A standings.
