Davide Nicola has left Cagliari, and the Sardinians are considering promoting their Primavera coach, Fabio Pisacane, for the 2025-26 season, sources tell Football Italia.

Cagliari Primavera coach Pisacane, a former defender for the Rossoblu, could be promoted as head coach of the first team for the next season.

Pisacane the leading candidate for Cagliari job

Football Italia understands that Pisacane is currently the primary option for the Rossoblu after Nicola’s dismissal.

The Italian tactician secured survival in 2024-25, but the club expected a better use and valorisation of new signings, so they decided to part company with the 52-year-old.

There could be even further changes in Cagliari as the club owner is considering the position of sporting director Nereo Bonato, whose transfer activity has been judged as not entirely convincing.

Cagliari are among the many Serie A clubs changing their coaches for 2025-26. The latest club to confirm a managerial change was Torino, who announced the sacking of Paolo Vanoli and the appointment of Marco Baroni on Thursday.
