As Inter Milan prepare to face Cagliari on Saturday, Nerazzurri starlet Francesco Pio Esposito will go head-to-head with his brother Sebastiano for the first time in Serie A.

As has been detailed by the Gazzetta dello Sport, the two have never faced one another as opposition.

Just this summer, both players spent their pre-season with Inter.

However, after a series of loans in the last few years, Sebastiano Esposito joined Cagliari on loan with an obligation-to-buy.

The Gazzetta note the significance of the Esposito-bowl, as Francesco Pio has quickly become everything his brother was initially hyped up to be.

Esposito Brothers Face Off In Cagliari Vs Inter Milan

The Italian newspaper go into further detail comparing the brothers’ situations in Nerazzurri colours.

Since the 2020-21 season, Sebastiano Esposito played on loan for seven different clubs before his move to Cagliari.

Spells at SPAL, Basel, Anderlecht, Venezia, Bari, Sampdoria and Empoli were, however, never overly fruitful for the elder Esposito.

Meanwhile, Francesco Pio scored 17 goals in 35 Serie B games on loan at Spezia last season.

His impressive performance on loan gave him a fast track into the Inter first team as Cristian Chivu’s back-up striker.
