Tottenham fans are hoping that the players step up next season as the club looks to build on the Europa League success. The Lilywhites struggled to keep up in the Premier League last season as Ange’s men finished 17th in the league table. One of the major reasons for the dismal domestic campaign was the lack of squad depth and the injury crisis that the squad endured.
Well, Daniel Levy took notice of that immediately and has managed to cover the attacking line with enough depth heading into next season. The squad has several players that can play in the wide positions up front. And it is fair to say that there is no place for more signings to fill out the void.
The Lilywhites did manage to make a statement signing to provide Brennan Johnson some competition on the right-flank though. Spurs announced the arrival of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham on a £55m deal. Signing the Ghana international just ensured that Daniel Levy was covering all areas of the pitch and addressing the problems up front.
It was reported earlier that Tottenham were considering to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United in the summer. The England international has fallen out with Ruben Amorim and wants to head for pastures new in the summer. The report also stated that the Red Devils are opting to pay a portion of Rashford’s wages in order to cut ties with the 27-year-old.
However, John Wenham believes Spurs will not make a move for the winger in the summer. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“I can’t see Tottenham signing Rashford. There are the links with Yoane Wissa, and now we’ve reportedly signed Kudus as well. On the left, we’ve obviously got Son Heung-min, Mikey Moore, and Mathys Tel now that he has joined permanently.”
The Lilywhite Rose owner added,
“We’ve also got Manor Solomon, Bryan Gil. Then you go to the other side, there’s Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Kudus now as well, and Wilson Odobert. We are just absolutely stacked with wide players.”
John Wenham cannot see Tottenham signing Marcus Rashford in the summer. The Lilywhite Rose owner insists that Spurs already have enough depth on the left flank, with Heung-Min Son, Mathys Tel and Mikey Moore waiting in the wings for a chance. Wenham also adds that the right-flank is also ‘stacked’, with Kudus, Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson filling out the positions.
It looks like Spurs will look to add another striker that could give Dominic Solanke a run for his money up front. The England international needs a good cover, and signing a backup striker would keep the 27-year-old on his toes. The Lilywhites are interested in signing OGC Nice forward Evann Guessand in the summer. Tottenham believe that the Ivorian could replace Richarlison and come on as an impact sub under Thomas Frank.
