Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Jude Bellingham suffered a sprained ankle during Real Madrid's 4-0 win over Girona on Saturday.
Bellingham scored two goals before limping off the pitch in the 57th minute.
The 20-year-old England midfielder was later seen sitting on the bench with an ice pack strapped to his left foot.
Asked about Bellingham's condition after the match, Ancelotti told reporters: "Jude Bellingham has an ankle sprain. We will assess him tomorrow."
Madrid will next be in action on Tuesday night when the UEFA Champions League returns.
Los Blancos - who won all six of their UCL group games this season - will kick off the round of 16 with a first-leg trip to RB Leipzig.
Ancelotti is hopeful that Bellingham will be fit to play in Germany next week.
However, the Italian is confident that other players in his squad will be able to step up if Bellingham misses out.
Ancelotti said: "Hopefully Bellingham will play on Tuesday. But whenever he didn't play we used Brahim Diaz or Joselu and we were okay."
A laughing Ancelotti then added: "I will never be more worried than today. We played without center-backs."
With Eder Militao, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez all out injured, Ancelotti selected right-back Dani Carvajal and midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as his two central defenders against Girona.
Saturday's victory saw Madrid move five points clear at the top of La Liga.
