The coaching box of Carlos Alcaraz has been missing a familiar face during the 2025 Queen's Club Championships, as the Spaniard's coach Juan Carlos Ferrero has been notably absent. However, the former Grand Slam champion will return to his ward's side in time for Alcaraz's Wimbledon title defense.

Alcaraz retained his Roland Garros title a few weeks ago, defeating World No.1 Jannik Sinner in a final for the ages. Ferrero was present during Alcaraz's Roland Garros title run, and was seen embracing his mentee after the epic victory.

Ferrero set to return at SW19

With Alcaraz currently competing at the Queen's Club Championships in preparation for Wimbledon, Ferrero has been notably absent. The 2003 French Open champion is currently taking a break, with Alcaraz being coached by Spaniard Samuel Lopez in Ferrero's absence. However, Ferrero is set to rejoin Alcaraz's team next Monday, as the 22-year old finalizes preparations for his Wimbledon title defense.

Lopez has been acting as an additional coach on Alcaraz's team since 2024, stepping in whenever Ferrero is absent. Although Ferrero remains the head coach, Lopez has done an admirable job to support Alcaraz on tour. The World No.2 is the top seed at the Queen's Club Championships, and is scheduled to face compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut in the semifinals of the ATP 500 grass court event.
